Working to resolve ours and our clients' 'trailing edges'
Hosted by Christina Lombardi-Somaschini
Dates 16, 23, 30 April
Overview
While picking out and working with developmental or growth edges might be familiar to most practitioners, listening for developmental snags and resolving them may not be. Developmental snags are those trailing threads that have us bogged down even as we’re playing at the edges and they manifest in myriad ways in our daily life. When we’ve got a snag we might feel like we’re striving but never quite arriving, or turning in circles and getting not very far. However far we may get with our developmental edges, while we’ve got unresolved snags there will always be something holding us back from fulfilling our full potential.
Identifying and working to resolve these developmental snags for ourselves as coaches/facilitators and with our clients can lead to profound shifts, including whole paradigm shifts, which in turn can catalyse transition. Coaches might find these particularly valuable for clients from late Individualist onwards just beginning or in the final phases of a transition.
To be able to effectively guide clients through the process of exploring and resolving their snags, it’s invaluable to do the work on ourselves first, especially as these threads, like spider’s silk, can be surprisingly subtle and resistant. This will be a highly participative 3-part online pathway with space for inquiry and experimentation between sessions.
Session 1
What are developmental snags? Why is it important to gradually resolve them? Why are they of such great value to us as practitioners and what do they mean for our clients?
Session 2
Listening for the presence of developmental snags in our own life and exploring how they influence or drive our behaviours and actions. How to begin moving towards unsnagging and resolution and what that opens up for us. Employing discernment around the limits of coaching and/or our skills or our own developmental capacities in certain situations involving snags.
Session 3
Looking out for hints of snags in the SCT and working with our clients to resolve their snags. Building awareness and recovery tools around how our own snags might be affecting our coaching effectiveness or coaching relationships.
This online course will be facilitated by Christina Lombardi-Somaschini.
