Conversational Action Logics

CONVERSATIONAL ACTION LOGICS

Transforming Conversations with Leaders working with Organisational Change

Hosted by Ian Harcus

4 February and further workshop on 4 March

Overview

Conversations offer a bridge between leadership development and organisational performance. As leaders develop to later stage Action Logics, they become capable of raising different kinds of issues, asking different kinds of questions, initiating different kinds of conversations. These conversational Action Logics shape group dynamics and drive or limit organisational effectiveness.

Many groups, for example, will find it easy to discuss starting new activities but harder to discuss stopping existing ones; others will be at ease with both, perhaps because they focus more explicitly on outcomes; and some maybe better at challenging the underlying assumptions behind their goals and considering radical alternatives.

Conversational Action Logics offers a new set of tools to leadership coaches and their clients, particularly those already working with individual Action Logics. The aim is to support developing leaders to apply their new Action Logic competences through introducing new kinds of conversation into their team or organisation.

Experiential Workshop 1 -

This experiential workshop aims to facilitate a mutual exploration of conversational Action Logics, associated tools, and their application to leadership coaching.

Specifically, participants in the workshop will:

  • Use the model of conversational Action Logics
  • Apply the idea of conversations as the bridge between leadership and organisational change
  • Explore ways of using this in leadership coaching
  • Receive tools they can use in their coaching

Experiential Workshop 2

Ian will also be facilitating a workshop on using Conversational and Organisational Action Logics in Consultancy assignments.

This will be held on 4 March 2021.
