Inquiry based Experimentation in Leadership

INQUIRY BASED EXPERIMENTATION IN LEADERSHIP

Practical, supportive and experiential programme

Hosted by David Rooke and Nial O'Reilly

Dates  5 May, 7 July, 8 September, 10 November

Overview

This programme is for coaches, development consultants, HR professionals and leaders. It will equip you with the knowledge and skills to use Inquiry Based Experimentation as a powerful force for change and learning with your clients and colleagues. Inquiry Based Experimentation is a foundation for deep personal development and for groups of colleagues working together to explore and enact change. It is at once a methodology and a ‘way of being’ that supports personal development and collective action.

Outline

This programme, run over four months, presents an opportunity to learn about the value and practice of Inquiry Based Experimentation in leadership development. We will explore with you, in inquiring and very practical ways:

  • What is inquiry and why is it so crucial to the developing human being?
  • How do leaders, inquiring together, enable change, development and transformation in their lives and organisations?
  • What conditions are required for inquiry to work effectively?
  • How do facilitators enable productive inquiry to take place?
  • What is a developmental leadership experiment?
  • In ‘right first time’ cultures how can experimentation, with the possibility of ‘failure’ be established as a developmental activity?
  • How do I support others to prepare for and engage in experiments over a period of time?
  • What practices are known to support Later Stage Development and how can I experiment with them?

The programme will be facilitated by David Rooke and Nial O’Reilly and will be run over 4 three and a half hour sessions bi-monthly in May, July, September and November. In between each session you are invited to run your own experiments and you will work with a group of co-inquirers applying the learning. The programme is designed to be practical, supportive and experiential.

The programme will equip you with the skills and confidence necessary to bring Inquiry Based Experimentation to life with your clients in the interest of their development.
