THE SELF-AUTHORING COACH

Harthill Diploma in Vertically Developmental Coaching

A deep dive and intensive programme of coaching development forming a core part of the journey towards Accreditation as a Harthill Vertically Developmental Coach

“Vertical development can allow a person... to lead from wisdom and expansiveness rather than being stuck in a limiting (and often unconscious) mindset.

It changes the culture of the organization for good.”

Forbes, Jan 2020

What is a Self-Authoring Coach?

Most of us live our lives from what is known as a Socialised mindset– we seek external direction and validation. We are shaped by the expectations of our environment, and we stick with the identity we formed much earlier in life. And of course many of our coaching conversations can take place in this arena.

But there is another way to relate to the world. And to encourage our clients to relate to their world. We can develop a Self-Authoring Mind.

With a Self-Authoring Mind, we align with an internal sense of direction, an inner seat of judgment and our own developed compass. We are able to question expectations and values, take stands, set boundaries and solve problems ourselves. Having a Self-Authored Mind means we have an internal voice that is self-directed, and can navigate across seemingly competing ideas and perspectives without subsuming our own identity.

The Self-Authoring Coach takes this idea and applies to your coaching capability. The programme is for experienced coaches who wish to deepen and expand their practice - and develop their own individual meaning making. Though it has also proven to be helpful to senior leaders wishing to develop an ability to reproduce coaching capability across their organisation.

The Self-Authoring Coach: Transformative yet Practical

The Self-Authoring Coach provides a transformative and very practical programme that develops your coaching capability as well as your practice. Deepen your own Meaning Making

The Self-Authoring Coach will deepen your own meaning making by including the globally renowned Leadership Development Profile and debrief session. This allows us to co-author with you and your fellow participants a developmental pathway which will equip you to work more deeply and more meaningfully with clients, along with sharpening your own developmental leading edge.

Your learning will be further extended to include further exploration of your Leadership Development Profile in Developmental Supervision, along with how this informs your coaching practice.

Meanwhile, our unique ‘Developing my Practice’ journaling App uses the internationally acclaimed SenseMaker® data analysis tool to help you create a self supervision process that will help you throughout your coaching career.

In addition, there is an additional layer of scope to the Self-Authoring Coach learning programme: Siân and Ian will be bringing in specialised expert Coach Guides to oiffer deeper knowledge and practice in other frameworks and approaches, such as Gestalt and Mindfulness.

Certification

For those whose situation requires them to obtain ILM7 or equivalent qualifications the programme provides, at a small additional cost, the opportunity to enter for the ILM Level 7 (NFQ 9 in Ireland) Certificate or Diploma in Executive or Senior Level Coaching and Mentoring. Approximately 40% of our participants have taken this qualification and all of these have achieved excellent results.

Supporting Coaching Culture

Many Self-Authoring Coach participants are sponsored by their organisations in order that they can go back into their workplace and contribute to the creation or further development of a coaching culture. This may entail training colleagues in basic coaching skills, coaching individuals within the organisation or simply incorporating coaching approaches into everyday management.

Harthill offers further support to these individuals working to build or strengthen the coaching culture, by offering bespoke workshops, group and individual supervision for internal coaches and ongoing developmental work.
